The region of Valencia has established itself as the leader in Spain for home sales to foreigners in the last quarter of 2013, with 33.6% of the national total and 13,436 transactions. This is according to the report on the last quarter of 2013 prepared by the Commission for promoting the sale of homes to foreigners, who met in Valencia to discuss the latest data on this type of real estate transaction.

The data puts Andalusia in second place with 19.9%, followed by Catalonia, with 15.5%, the Canary Islands, with 11.3%, and the Balearic Islands, with 6.5% of the total of around 40,000 acquisitions carried out by foreign buyers.

Of the 13,436 housing transactions registered in the Valencia region in the fourth quarter of 2013, a total of 4,281 (31%) were acquired by foreigners resident in Spain, while 424 of the purchases were made by non-resident foreigners. Also, of the total of 16,619 transactions carried out by foreigners in the Valencian region during 2013, 13,786 of them were situated in the province of Alicante (83%), while 11.7% were registered in the province of Valencia and 5.4% in Castellón.
